Reverso es una nueva sección del sitio del periodico El Universal en la que desde hace unas semanas, el rappero mexicano Akil Ammar hace una breve cápsula versificando las noticias. “Crítica editorial hecha rap” dice al pie de los videos que se entregan semanalmente cada miércoles. ¿Son las rimas una forma eficaz para reportar? Saludos amigos de Panamérika. Veo con gusto que han hecho un post sobre el loable esfuerzo de Akil Ammar por diversificar los derroteros del rap.
La idea como tal de hacer una editorial noticiosa en raps lo que tiene de novedoso es el formato. Nada más. Lo sustancioso o no, el impacto que pueda provocar, el alcance que tenga, dependen exclusivamente del emcí en turno.
Ciertamente estamos ante un fenómeno alejado histórica y semióticamente (y en general, en muchos sentidos) de la metáfora Chuck-D-ciana del rap como el CNN de la comunidad. La sociedad del espectáculo permea en básicamente cualquier aspecto de nuestra vida: digamos que si hubiera una revolución, sorry Gil Scott-Heron, sólo exisistiría en la televisión. En este sentido, el rap de Akil fue coptado por el establishment y funciona a merced de sus intereses.
Sin embargo, la empresa de Akil es buena porque abre espacios para el rap nacional y nos da una voz (al ser un espacio editorial en un periódico de circulación nacional) que es importante dar al hip-hop mexicano. La gente que hace hip-hop en México no tiene espacios en los medios ni presencia como comunidad; es un mundo paralelo y olvidado. En ese sentido, Reverso es importante.
Pero el hecho es que no estamos ante una empresa que sea hip-hop en el sentido profundo del término: no es más que una idea atractiva porque no se había hecho. Me recuerda a un señor que vi una vez, justo en CNN, haciendo poemas sobre la bolsa de valores: era una curiosidad interesante, pero la poesía en ese contexto, como el rap con Akil, era un animal en el zoológico, una curiosidad, algo para “psar el rato”.
Y tampoco estoy 100 % seguro de que la empresa no sea “hip-hop real”; más bien eso depende de Akil y su capacidad de provocar.
La palabra es un medio para comunicar ideas. Akil comunica con la herramienta que domina: la rima, el verso. Una de las intenciones más nobles y honestas del rap es transmitir y denunciar lo que sucede en nuestra sociedad. En base a lo anterior la intención es válida y rescatable… Prefiero a Akil que a un tío disfrazado de payaso dando noticias.
